School not submitted EHCP application

I spoke to school in January asking for them to start the ball rolling with EHCP

In march we had a meeting at school where several agencies attended and we discussed what needed to be included in the plan

Since then -absolutely nothing

Why would they be dragging their feet on this and what can I do?

Waiting on paperwork from other agencies (they weren't)

Just seems to be one long slog

I did know that a parent could request one but I've no experience so thought I would leave it to the experts

Ask the designated person at school who they are waiting on and suggest you contact them directly (in a friendly way suggesting you can help get 'get the ball rolling' so to speak).

I can't remember the specific timelines but I think by 20 weeks the school needs to submit - this could be wrong so please check, but it is a question you could ask at school

Dd has been out of school for a year

The bits they are waiting on are from her tutor -tutor sent it weeks ago
I know this because she emailed me a copy -hard copy sent to school with a signature on

Dd currently has 4.5 hrs of home tuition a week -it's going well but it's not enough to meet her needs

Is school paying for this provision at home? Contact your local authority assessment team and ask for their help. Fully explain the situation

The tutors come from the local education authority

I'm not sure how they are funded

The school sound like they are not interested. Contact your local statutory assessment team directly and ask if the school have been in touch. They should be aware already and if not ask them to contact the school directly if you don't want to do this yourself. Just explain your situation and ask if there is a parent support service.

There is nothing that says that in the Code of Practice. OP, you really need to start the process off yourself - there's information on the IPSEA website about how to do it. Once you have started, make sure that they keep to the deadlines. The first one is that they must tell you whether they have decided to assess or not within 6 weeks of the date they receive your request.
