Hi. My Ds is dyspraxic and has had mounting issues since about 18 months ago. Since the start of this year he has deteriorated badly and has just seen the paediatric team for a ASD referral. I'm now waiting for a questionnaire and a second appointment before the booking can be made for proper diagnosis. The whole process can take nine months.
My query is twofold
- what can I expect in the questionnaire and subsequent appointments. What more info so they want?
And
- should I make any attempts to look into a specialist school for him? He's currently year 6 and will have no other choice than attend his large local comprehensive. Without a diagnosis he won't get in but we won't have that in time as I have to apply by the end of this month. Thoughts most welcome as I'm in a maelstrom right now and would appreciate another perspective.
