Hi my daughter has just got her Ehc plan, the school we wanted her to go to is full, no places. She has asd and lea informed me that they are looking into independant schools for her now that are asd schools now I've been searching online and the "closest" asd sen school that has places available in her year group is 56 miles away. This really has been upsetting as I'm considering all the options but as I have an nt 12 year old I can't just up and move us all to be closer to the Sen school as it wouldn't be fair. I want both my girls to have a good education with as little disruption as possible. Do they provide transport for schools do far away as I've looked into train fares and it would total 200 a week. What would you advise? Have you been in this position? Thank you

Are you near the county border? You might find KCC would consider a cross authority placement favourably if it works out cheaper than an independent plus transport. Might be worth looking at schools in Sussex, Surrey Medway, London borough of Bromley (though think they get transported down to Helen Allison) and possibly Essex.
