can't help telling you their non - sn child is 'just the same', or 'does that too'?

And if they do...
Do you think they are trying to empathise and be nice - or do they just not get it.
and then...
does it irritate you?

OMG...I know I have said these sort of things to 2 of my good friends who both have autistic children....but honestly, I have always just tried to say that even the so called normal Kids do this (their lil ones are 3-4 years old...so, must admit I have not really "thought" of it int he way that this may well still effect them in say 5 years time...rather then things being Toddlerthings, iykwim)....never tried to belittle their tough time, as it must be soooo difficult...! But will really watch out now to not make stupid comments like that, shall just listen and be supportive in other ways...any ideas how to be supportive the best?
