Anyone know where it's possible to buy a second hand copy of wordshark. I ask only because my son has come home saying he likes it, but we've been here before and it doesn't usually last so don't really want to spend the best part of £70 quid for 5 mins and a lot of arguements!

Try ebay - I have seen it for sale there.

There are many on ebay but make sure that if you buy an older version it is compatible with your operating system. I have found that Wordshark 3s can have problems on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Although ds may think it is only a 5 mins fad it covers spellings right up to year 6 and secondary subject lists. You can even add your own word lists for any spellings that come home from school. my dd has dyslexia and is at secondary school. We use it a lot for revision of commonly mis spelt words and if we record definitions instead of the word itself it can help with her comprehension as well. My ds is only 6 and hands his new spelling list over with joy each week for me to add into wordshark so he can 'play'.
