My son is exhibiting challenging behaviour in playgroup. He is 2.9 and has become very aggressive towards other children. The playgroup believe he needs a one to one as his behaviour is dominating the time of all the staff and he needs someone to be constantly keeping a close eye on him to make sure he is not hurting other children. He is bright and has excellent speech so it is not a matter of frustration. We are keen to nip it in the bud as soon as possible, especially as he is beginning to show aggression to his baby sister.
The playgroup leader has contacted the LA to look into the possibility of a 1 to 1 support worker but this process will take almost a year to put someone in place. We have suggested that we pay for a 1 to 1 privately. Has any one done this before? It would be a financial strain for us so does anyone know if we could apply for a bit of help anywhere. May we be entitled to an increase in tax credits due to an increase in childcare costs or would this not be appropriate? Thanks.
