Hello everyone,

I would like to get a clear understanding of the line between SEN and pastoral care? discipline and extra measures.

Especially with KS1 children who are still learning relationships and boundaries.

I am very sorry for not explaining my self, I will but after the meeting I have just had with my son's schools SENCO i am emotionally and physically exhausted.

Thank you

Pastoral Care is usually a Head of Year/Guild/House and deals with problems to do with behaviour, attendance and general well being. Or on a more positive note does assemblies, rewards and organises events such as prom.

The Senco is a specific post holder who is responsible for identifying children with specific learning difficulties, adhd/dyslexia/physical or otherwise. Getting students a statement and many other things.

Often the jobs have areas that overlap.
