My daughter has an appointment for an assessment at our local dyslexia centre next week. I am wondering what to tell her it is all about and why she is doing it. I?m not sure I want to mention the ?D word? just yet as I?m not sure how she would handle it...
All suggestions gratefully received.

Presumably she knows she is having difficultes which her friends aren't. Tell her the purpose of the appointment is to suggest ways to help her and the more she cooperates the better advice you will receive.

My son is 18 in January as of yet has not been assessed as Dyslexic...How do we go about it.... He has always had a full statement... and been completely failed in the main stream... now at college... we feel if he was assessed then maybe he could get the correct help... also may need it to sit theory druiving test...???

We have contacted our local dyslexia centre and are paying to have her assessed. It's not cheap (£430). It's supposedly possible to get the school to pay for an assessment but I've never heard of it actually happening!
