Special Needs BRIGHTON

Hi Everyone,
I am looking at moving to Brighton in the next few months for personal reasons. My daughter has developmental delay and no speech and is 9 years old. She uses Makaton, is very smiley and happy but needs a lot of support at school. I am looking for either a mainstream school with a unit attached or a special needs school that is very very good and would be willing perhaps for her to go to a mainstream school for a couple of days a week. She is currently in a mainstream school, kept two years below her age. She loves the other children and mixing and learning from her peers, so I want her to still experience this. So I either need a fantastic mainstream school already accepting special needs children or special school....can anyone help, I would be very grateful for advice
Thanks
Rachel.

Rachel

Your daughter is in a class with 7 year olds?.

What has the SENCO said to you before now?.

Does your DD have a statement?. Again I would suggest that you apply for a statement for your DD asap if there is not already one in place. For either option you are proposing i.e a unit or special school she will need a statement.

IPSEA's website is good www.ipsea.org.uk
