ASD Assessment

My dd2 is currently being assessed for a possible ASD. She will be 4 in December.

I'm not convinced she will get a formal diagnosis as she is very borderline. She has some autistic traits but in many ways is "normal".
Today we went for assessment 2 out of 3. The last one is tomorrow and I'm told that after we have gone the various professionals along with her nursery keyworker will have a meeting and discuss the various reports etc.

Does anyone with any experience know when I am likely to find out the "verdict"? I know I can ask them tomorrow (meant to today) but wondered if anyone here could help in the meantime.

I think it very much depends on what the process is locally to you - her in Northamptonshire some assessments are done via the NHS and some through the LA - DS was almost 6 when he got his diagnosis, via hospital as the school did not share my concerns.

Thanks for your reply. She had her last assessment this morning and I now know we have a 2-3 week wait for the reports etc to come through.
Nursery don't share my concerns about her but luckily we have had support from other professionals who understand and who have seen her in full swing at home.

It's taken us 18mths to get to this stage so I guess 2 or 3 more weeks isn't too much of a hardship.

Thanks so much. I'm so glad that her SALT is on board. She reassured me today that she will make sure the panel know how her behaviour is at home (it is very challenging to say the least).
She also sees problems with her social interaction with her peers where the nursery don't seem overly concerned. It's a shame because last year her keyworker was fantastic but now she is in the older room they see a clever little girl who knows all her shapes, numbers, colours etc and overlook the rest.

I just want to know either way now so that a proper action plan can be put into place at nursery. Sometimes I just feel it's all in my head!

Heard this afternoon that we have an appointment on 24th November to discuss the reports. Not too long to wait really :)
