I wasn't at the open day but my dd went for a three day trial. I loved it. She felt it was too small and didn't like the fact it had no lunch hall. She is in a large state primary.

I really want her to go there but am really worried about the state of funding at the moment with all the cut backs. Why would the LEA pay for my DD to go to BH when they can send her to the local special school.

The LA would not pay fees for BH if there is a suitable local special school - they are obliged to make an efficient use of resources, which means they must opt for the cheapest suitable school.

If you wanted your DD to get a funded place, you would have to show that no other cheaper school was suitable. Most parents have to go to tribunal to secure such provision and pay for independent experts to show that their child needs such a specialist environment.

Yes greenpilot I agree I was thinking of fighting for it but she doesn't want to go there so why bother. We have a reasonable SN school which she would probably be happier at as it has better facilities, playingfield , swimming pool etc.
