Do anyone know where I can find out about past decisions of SEN Tribunals, I would just like to have a look and see if I have any chance of winning the case, my son has severe dyslexia.

Have you looked at the website Being Dyslexic? Great forums with people who have been/going through this process.

The upshot is that it is very hard and varies from place to place as to how easy/hard etc to get what you need. I don't think you can base your decision to proceed on past decisions as they all seem to be so random and with so many variants.

Our primary school has been very good with DS1 who is 8 and my step Dad has been paying for him to attend weekly lessons at Dyslexia Action which are really helping.

I suppose if you don't try you will never know, not much help, sorry.

There are a limited number of decisions on the SEND website here. They only go up to 2006 though, and the nature of tribunals has changed since then - it's much harder to be successful for dyslexia I think. High Court appeals are a bit more useful for proving your own case, as they're regarded as Case Law. Tribunal panels don't have to abide by past tribunal decisions but they have to take Case Law into regard.

I was also looking up SEN and found your post from a few days ago.

If you don't try you wont know whether your child's appeal would be successful or not, every child is different do not be put off by the process, although there is nothing easy or quick in obtaining the specialist support your child's needs, without you fighting for your child I would say it is highly unlikely your child will get the provision it needs, going from my own experience.

If you are considering appealing against a LA decision remember there is a time (I think its 2 months from when you received your LA first demission. Do not miss the deadline.

You do not say whether you are appealing against a Note in Lieu, a Statement or Parts 2,3 or 4 of the Statement.
