Parent Partnership Officer came out to me on Friday and arranging another meeting with SENCO next week. My daughter as got an IEP (didn't know what these are until PPO explained. The teacher just handed it to me with no explanation. Also on the IEP it said she is SA (never heard of that either), apparently she was SA last year also. Don't know if she as been on it even longer or how many IEP's she as had in the past. Should the school have informed me about this? Only found all this out because I told her last teacher I wasn't happy about her progress. She as been doing a lexia program last year at once a week and now all of a sudden (cus I have kicked up a fuss) she will be getting it daily (wait and see)I have no confidence with the school anymore and I am not going to give up. Any advice would be really appreciated...thank you

How old is your daughter?

SA is School Action and means that the school can meet her needs (they will have identified some form of difficulty that she has) from their own resources. If they felt she needed (for example) a visitng speech therapist, she would be classed as School Action Plus (SA+). An IEP is drawn up for a child at SA, SA+ or with a statement and should set several targets, to be reviewed (ideally) three times a year. Yes, ideally you should have copies, and be involved in looking at the targets and revies - could be low key, like at parents evening.

Lucinda she is 8. Grumpy,I had no idea what the IEP was until 2 weeks ago. There as been no reviews at all and I found out on Friday she was SA last year might even been longer so i don't know how many IEP's she's had altogether. Just angry that they have not communicated with me properly. Arranging for a meeting with SENCO again and Parent Partnership Officer coming along. my daughter is extremely quiet in class but her behaviour is getting worst when she comes home, which I think is frustration. I have asked what level she is at now and I was told that she is aiming for lower 2 by the end of the year. Want to know and see previous IEP's . I feel because she is so quiet that she's left to struggle through, if she had bad behaviour more would have been done.
