What does an MVA cost?

My accountant has recommended a liquidator and I just spoke to the chap who is v nice and they have known for a long time. But he said cost of the MVA is £5-6k + VAT.

I was expecting more like £2k. I am a one person consultancy. No outstanding bills so nothing complicated.

Any recommendations.please?

Do you mean a members voluntary liquidation? Try MVL Online, they are set up for your sort of situation and do it for around £1k. https://www.mvlonline.co.uk/

Members Voluntary Liquidation | MVL Online®

We provide members voluntary liquidation for simple solvent companies in UK, Only £995+VAT plus disbursements.

I’m an accountant and the most recent super simple MVL I referred to the liquidators we work with was quoted as £5.5k by them so in line with what your accountant has said. I was shocked as didn’t know it would be that much (but I have no idea how much work is involved, and people probably feel the same about their accountants bills too!)

Presumably you have loads of money left in the company?

Otherwise just pay a dividend and strike the company off?
