Anyone else get sick to death of spending all of their time staring at a laptop screen?

Soz, just need to vent a little.

I work a 9-5 which involves sitting all day staring at my laptop, plus I have a side-hustle which also involves sitting on my can, staring at a laptop.

The side-hustle goes up and down - honestly I'd rather quit the main job and do it full-time but it's simply too unreliable atm (i.e. more time needed reaching out to clients/learning new skills i.e. more time spent sent sat staring at my laptop). So basically when it's fairly busy I pretty much spend the vast bulk of my waking hours sat on my chuff staring at a screen.

There are various hobbies I'd like to try - to get back into into creative writing, or start a YouTube channel, however these would involve spending yet even more of my life sat staring at a laptop. At that point you might as well as just staple the damn thing to my hands.

Not to get too graphic, but I developed piles recently - I have eliminated every other risk factor (not had kids yet) so the only thing I can think of that's causing them are the excessive time I spend sat down.

At this point going on walks and drinking wine are my only release valves 😂
Soz just wanted to vent a little and know I'm not alone!

No you're not alone. I'm feeling really low about it at the moment - I spend all day, every day of my working week looking at a screen, and like you, the very last thing I want to do in the evening is stare at it again. Sympathies/empathies.

Oh yes, this is what I'm always thinking about. I spend all my working time looking at the screen which is fine by me, but then I also habe hobbies like photography and videography. Doing this gets me out of my house, so it's a good thing, but I need to edit what I've filmed which means even more time spent at my laptop, now in front of the Clipify window. I do some editing on my smartphone, but that only leads to even more screen time in my life which is a bummer, because I love doing this but staring at the screen for so long feels depressing.

Yes! I have what I refer to as necrosis of the arse, where it feels like the buttock fat which is displaced by sitting has a weird numb/burning sensation. To avoid this I bought a standing desk but then I developed agonising pain in the backs of my knees! I basically spend all day switching between standing and sitting, but it’s being still which is the problem, we are not meant to be stuck in one place all day, Im approaching 50 and I know I need a different kind of job, but I’m a single parent with kids to pay for and I don’t know what to do!!
