If you are entering other people's homes then a high level of trust may be expected from possible new clients. Even more so if vulnerable occupants are present. A clean Disclosure and Barring Service vetting check could help allay fears as could references from existing clients. On a general note an online web presence allowing potential customers to email you would be good. You may choose to do a video for social media also were you could discuss the services offered, standards of your work, prices and your personal values like honesty and tardiness. Old school business card in the local shop window or local yellow pages might also be a good idea.

If you can get personal recommendations on Facebook/website etc?

ViciousCurrentBun · 25/05/2025 09:44

I only ever employed cleaners through personal recommendation. Maybe consider letting your current clients know you are looking for more clients. I would give an incentive for a secured regular client such as an extra one off 30 mins for the person who recommended you. A discount is nice but that’s lost income. Time is money always but that free 30 mins in theory only costs if you are not being paid to clean somewhere else.

Which SM are you on? Different ones attract different ages clients.

Our local population is a bit older than average and tge local FV is very popular. Make sure you’re on there, you post and you answer the “I’m looking for a cleaner for my Dad” kind of post.

Also ask your clients if they’d be willing to leave you a review on Google and FB. Is your business on Google?

Does your Instagram have a theme? For instance some people put all of the text with a background with the sane colour like pink or pale green?

Hello! I'm also growing my new business, maybe we could help each other? I'm launching a marketing platform that creates and posts your social media and SEO blogs, I'd be happy to give you a free account in return for any feedback.... I'm also offering free 45 minute marketing and onboarding calls if that would help? I hope I'm not coming across as pushy, but I've got lots of experience in marketing small businesses including a cleaning business and 2 decluttering services.

Word of mouth for sure.

Word of mouth for sure.

Must admit that we’ve employed a couple recently for different members of the family and they’ve all been on word-of-mouth but appreciate that may be difficult if it’s a new business.
