Having just completed my tax return in the past few weeks I am looking at ways to simplify my record keeping. I am self employed- a sole trader. I keep all paper receipts and online purchases are easier to keep track of, but I am looking for an app which would take an image of my receipt, perhaps will recognise amounts and help me keep track of expenditure.
Help!

Monzo business account

Even the free version is good

You can categorise expenses & it learns your usual ones and categorises them automatically.

But the feature I like most is scanning a receipt and tagging spending.

No more hunting for receipts or trying to work out what I spent £££ on in a random shop. Online purchase I screenshot & save the photo, in person I take a photo of the receipt in the shop & save it.

Almost everything now has a receipt attached, & it has made my tax returns so much easier.

I have a referral code if you want one for £50 each

I like quick books it's an allowable business expense. It does my mileage calculations for me. It produces a breakdown listed by the HMRC box numbers so you just fill the dots on your tax return.
