LinkedIn Help Desperately Needed!

sunseeker19 · 01/01/2025 09:56

I’m unfortunately having a nightmare with LinkedIn. I've had an account for over 10 years, but recently it was hacked. I got my account back for a short period, but LinkedIn Customer Service has now removed my account completely, due to inappropriate activity (obviously during the hack), and now refuse to have contact with me as they think that I am actually the hacker!

As a small business owner, it’s a nightmare to be faced with losing over 1200 connections built up over 10 years, and I'm genuinely worried about the impact that will have on my business this year and beyond if I can't get my account reinstated.

I would massively appreciate any suggestions on how else I can go about getting my account back, as I feel at a dead end!

Why don't you speak to CS again and show ID? and proof of work?

It isn't possible to speak to them I don't think, only to message them. Unfortunately this can only be done from your LinkedIn profile I think, which they have shut me out of. Is there another way though that they can be contacted, I feel like there must be?!

Whoops I should have also said, I've already verified my identity with them through passport, drivers licence and live photo - I suspect the hacker has changed my identity to theirs, so that those documents no longer match me, so that is why I've been locked out if that makes sense?

Not sure if this will help but here is an account from someone else in your position. Essentially you need to change the password, enable MFA etc. But if you have completely lost control of the account this makes things much harder. CS should be able to see the history and changes which have been made to the account to change the identity if that makes sense.

Whenever I've encountered this kind of vicious cycle of being unable to make contact through official means I've just googled the CEO contact details and emailed them

You won't ever actually contact the CEO but it routes you through to an escalations team who then are usually able to bypass the standard procedures

Forgot to mention, it's also worth CCing in the Data Protection Officer, this is a security breach due to the hack, your data on LinkedIn has been compromised and you need access to your account to secure it. They can verify you via ID, they can also reset your multi factor authentication and issue a new token to a genuine email account as additional verification of your identity.

You should ensure you have changed your password on your linked email account by the way.
