Hi, hope you all doing well. I am mum to toddler and newborn. Recently been financially struggling and like to open a business but I don’t know where to start from or find a job that’s from home. It’s quite difficult I know especially at this stage with kids but looking for something that’s flexible., maybe if you all could give me advice or suggestions would be very helpful.

There's lots of things you could do. What are you interested in, what do you enjoy and have you got an idea for a business? I'm halfway through an excellent in-person course about how to start a business with no money and it's been so good.

It's hard to start a business from scratch unless you a, get very lucky or b, join in a growing trend before the market is saturated or c, have a skill/knowledge you can monitise.

My business was formed when I had enough of working and being paid like crap in the design industry for over 10 years. I trained myself up using free resources, made a cracking portfolio while my kids were small babies and now my youngest has just started school I'm expanding. Selling myself subcontracting for design companies.

What are you interested in op? Where does your experience lie? What are your skills?

Reusable nappies laundry service (we used one of these briefly when we had two in nappies which was great)

I did freelance book-keeping for small local businesses.

What skills do you have?

Starting a Business just because you need flexibility around a newborn isn't the best idea.
To be successful you will need to have a good idea and execute it well, being in a difficult financial situation and having 2 kids that are pre school and therefore need care make it even more difficult..
Its not an easy way out if you can't find a job or your current job doesn't work for you

A wfh job, you will still need to have childcare in place. I haven't come across any company that would agree for you to look after your young children while wfh.

What ideas do you have to start a business?
