Help! Instagram promotion

Xander2023 · 29/01/2024 19:55

My boss has asked me to organise an Instagram promotion for an event that will take place in 3 days time.

Basically we'll ask visitors to our event to take a photo and upload it to Instagram tagging a specific hashtag. We'll pick a winner and I have a small budget for a prize. I thought I'd offer a voucher for a local restaurant whose nationality is connected to our product.

I was going to just buy the voucher as I have a budget, but now I'm thinking that maybe I should approach the restaurant and offer a partnership where they are mentioned in our Instagram as sponsors and offer the voucher for free? is this how it's done?

As you can probably tell I have zero experience in these kind of things! Thanks

I think times are pretty hard in the leisure industry and I wouldn't be asking a local business for a freebie when you have budget. I would, however, let the restaurant know you plan to use the voucher as the prize at a local event - they might want to throw something in for free in return for the advertising but make it their choice.

Thanks @tribpot that makes sense!

I agree with Tribpot - I recently did something similar with a competition with a small budget for a prize. The local company I approached to buy a voucher for their experience doubled it so 4 people could go rather than just 2. We all went away happy.

That only really works if you have a big following. If you only have a few hundred followers it's not like they will be getting great exposure.

Good point. They have 5 times our number of followers.

Your followers could well represent a demographic they are not currently reaching. It's worth having a conversation with them.

approaching the restaurant is a great idea!
