Can I do this?

I have a small side hustle where I knit baby cardigans and hand embroider their names on to them. It’s been really popular and I can’t knit fast enough for demand. I’ve bought some hand knitted cardigans from Facebook marketplace to add to the stock I’ve made myself but the I wondered if there were any issues with this? I won’t be pretending to knit them myself and each item will only be sold on if of the highest quality. I advertise as handmade new or nearly new and will advise which pieces have been outsourced. I guess I just wondered if this was allowed? I only sell through social media currently but may start an Etsy shop too. It’s early days and I don’t want to get into any trouble.

If you are hand embroidering them then yes it's allowed if you are upfront about what you are selling. The probably with hand knitting though is it is time consuming and you can't make enough money to cover your time and materials. At what point will you not be able to buy decent hand-knitted products. You haven't got a reliable supply chain there to scale up much at all.
Plus I imagine that the garments you are buying are unlabelled and the reality is, you don't really know what you are buying.

You are right, it is definitely hard to maintain a constant supply of hand knitted items. I am going to offer a send in service too where I can add the personalisation to their own items, either hand knit or shop bought. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Would a knitting machine help?
