I’m organising a set of London-based and virtual groups to support and encourage parents of young children who have an ambitious goal such as changing careers or starting a business. I have led similar groups informally, but this is the first time commercially and with a childcare option, so I need to write my T’s and C’s and sort out any insurance that may be advisable.
The group series runs for 12 weeks to better support larger projects, such as writing a book or starting a business. As such, it’s a significant initial investment, not to mention a chunk of time. What is a reasonable cancellation and refund policy for change of plans or missed sessions? I want to be fair, but at the same time slightly discourage people who will not stay the course, since the experience and outcomes are so much better if the group is consistent. Are the common cut-off periods, such as 7 or 14 days before start date, arbitrary or set by UK consumer law?
Also, do I need to take out public liability insurance or include anything in this regard in my T’s and C’s, especially considering the childcare offer for the daytime sessions? These will take place in public libraries and our children will be next door and cared for by vetted professionals with experience, DBS, first aid, etc.
Is there anything I have not thought of? Thanks!
