Good / affordable card reader?

I currently have a sum up for my small business and it is terrible, first time it worked for a while then started having signal issues, had to walk it round the shop then up the street, then it stopped working. Sum up sent a replacement, which had a fault on it and never worked. Sum up sent out a third replacement, which does occasionally work but very rarely. Really need a card reader but I've already spent £79 for the sum up, can anyone recommend an affordable but reliable card reader? Thank you

I have sumup and have no issues with it... Is it your WiFi?

Zettle is another option you might want to look at

Zettle - never had problems (and even used them as a stand in when the barclaycard machines were not set up correctly).

The £79 model should be running via the built in SIM card - and be able to run on anything from 3g down to GPRS

Try it on WiFi and also look up mobile providers for you area, to see if you are ‘under supported’ by a network - then check with SumUp what networks they use

Theres also the possibility that something around your building is having an effect on the signal

I have the basic Bluetooth SumUp & an iZettle and my friends have the SumUp 3g model, but they also still have original basic handsets.
One has a basic Bluetooth handset that has often had problems, but her 3g works virtually anywhere

SumUp does have the lowest transaction rate out of the ‘known’ brands , which of course is no use if you can’t take a payment

intercard were advertising heavily on Facebook last year. Their large print says it’s fee is 1% but the small print has ‘plus 1p’ fixed transaction charge - making it more expensive for low transactions, but cheaper as the amounts rise
They are also advertising 4g handsets

(However - we have found that sometimes at busy places the higher g connection is worse off than downgrading your phone etc to the lower g - using the theory that most phones are trying to use the highest speed connection and slow it down)
