Business for sale.....have I made a mistake?

I own an online business as a sole trader but it has got too big for me to manage on my own and I'm not interested in hiring staff to enable expansion. I paid a business broker a selling fee to help sell up. I think I was sucked in by their talk about how it would sell and that there's load of demand for online businesses. They made out as though they would be really plugging it to get it sold. They were very attentive at the start and then when I paid the listing fee they've done very little (listing on 2 'businesses for sale' sites and said they have a list of clients who they send the listing to).

I've had to chase updates and ask what they have been doing to get it sold. I feel stupid for falling for their spiel and paying the fee when I could have probably done what they have done myself! I doubt I can get my listing fee back.

I can't help you with your question but may be interested in looking in to buying the business. Can you let me have more information please?

You won't get your fee back, but depending on what the business is really worth excluding stock, I would probably look to just sell off the stock and be done with it. It's likely they overvalued it too.
