Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to setting up a website to sell goods. I've tried doing a Google search and it's a bit of a minefield!

I use ekm. You get what you pay for. Wix is popular and cheap to start off. Remember you'll need to advertise to get traffic, it won't just happen.

It entirely depends on what you might need, but there are a few options, varying in price and complexity.
Some DIY-builder platforms offer a form of ecommerce, such as Wix however, if you need to grow out of them later down the line, it would cost you in a new website/build.
Shopify is a great starter platform and solely focuses on eCommerce, has a wealth of apps (add-ons).
There is WordPress + WooCommerce, which you can do via their platform at or host it yourself!
And there's the likes of Etsy, Pinterest shoppable pins, social media, if you're looking entry-level, testing a product out, etc.

I've written a couple of blogs, you might find useful on this;
