Free press release distribution - who to.use?

So is there anywhere you can send press releases/news stories to that's free so journalists can pick up on etc?

Anyone?

I've been looking for a site or forum like this for a long time. But it wasn't easy because there are very few such sites. Also, I ran into the problem that not every press release can be uploaded to the site, which pisses me off a bit. And several times I've been very successful at it.
