Children’s party tents - insurance?

twiglet123 · 14/10/2020 12:59

I have made 6 ‘indoor tents’ for my daughters birthday using wooden poles and cotton fabric. There are also party chains draped over the tents and a large paper bauble on each. They have blankets and cushions inside.
They look so good I am thinking of hiring them out for children’s parties - what do I need to think about? Do I need insurance? Risk assessments? How does it work?
Any help or guidance much appreciated.

I know this thread is a few weeks old however I think your idea is great and your tents look fantastic! I’d imagine you’d need public liability insurance for this which is fairly cheap and easy to get.

Just a few ideas too, my daughters had tents like this hired from a local company last week and as part of the hire the company also supplied overnight, bed tables, bag of sweets, lanterns with battery tealights and battery lamps according to theme, and soft toys with them. They also had different themes (eg: unicorn, football, etc) and had lamps, covers matching the theme with battery operated led lights.

Good luck with your business

I imagine you'd need to prove the fabrics were non-flamable. And no choke hazards - small/loose parts if marketing for under threes.

Will you wash/clean each tent between hires. disinfect?
