Does anyone else run a furnished holiday let?

I am currently buying a (former) workshop that has planning permission to convert into a 2 bedroom house - with a view to providing holiday letting.

It is in a tourist area (in Wales).

Does anyone have experience of running something like this? Do you advertise directly on Booking.com or go with one of the holiday cottage companies etc?

I do not live near enough to do the changeovers etc.

Hi Topcat, I managed 4 Airbnb properties for several years so I can give you a few tips if you're interested?

I have one holiday let in Somerset. I don't go with any of the platforms that take a commission. We advertise on Independent Cottages where you pay a yearly fee and nothing else. Happy to chat further if you like.

I own 8 “holiday lets” and manage 4 serviced accommodation remotely. I advertise on all the major online travel agents; Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO and a couple of others. Happy to help if you have any questions.
