Hi all, we're trying out a Talk section for business founders and entrepreneurs - and your suggestions are welcome for topics, guest Q&As, and anything else that might be useful.

Here's what we have for the description so far:

Meet fellow founders and entrepreneurs in Mumsnet's business/startup forum. Get business advice and discuss funding, legal, hiring and more.

Anything missing?

We'll also be moving some relevant topics from the general Work section into here.

Fabulous idea!!!

Day to day finance, VAT/HMRC registration, form of business (sole trade, partnership, ltd company) though that's maybe covered by your topics above.

Brilliant idea 😁

Couple of things I'd find useful, a taxes/hmrc/finances etc section. A legal section would be helpful. Somewhere to share experiences of successes and more importantly failures, with support and advice, not judgments.

This is a great idea, looking forward to this section growing Smile

And don't forget GDPR. I have about 40 unsolicited emails offering all sorts of services with no opt out. And they all repeat their offers.

It would be good to have clear information on how not to get scammed by so called experts offering to sell you contact details, send out adverts for your new business.

ShesCurly · 03/03/2020 15:47

It's so hard to keep up to date with everything when you're juggling all the elements of running a business, so updates on regulations would be really helpful - tax / pensions / HR etc.

LonginesPrime · 03/03/2020 16:20

If this includes freelancers, might it be worth explicitly including them, either in the title ('Small Business/Freelancers') or in the blurb?

JeremyCorbynsTopLip · 03/03/2020 16:24

I hope we have a no hun bot rule on the board? If so thanks, I will be using it.

FoxRedBitch · 03/03/2020 19:26

I can't find the section. Where is it? In Work?

LizzieMacQueen · 03/03/2020 23:23

@FoxRedBitch

Yes under 'Work'

This is brilliant. I think having a sort of resources section for legal, accounts, marketing etc would be fab.
