Baby carrier for my husband

I've bought myself a couple of cloth baby wraps but Dh has just said he would quite like to carry the baby on his front but in one of those baby carriers rather than a sling.

So.... what kind of thing should I look into into getting? Are they safe for very small babies or will he have to wait a while before doing it?

Connecta - great range of fabrics, I managed to find one my DP was happy to wear.

Ergos and Patapum (sp?) also rather manly

or a babyhawk? fabulous choice of fabrics

DuelingFanjo · 09/07/2010 22:42

Thank you
He says he would like one for his birthday next week, so I'll have a look at those ones

i could spend hours on their design center

Ergo is good from about 6 months plus I would say, though with an infant insert fine from birth. Not in this heat though. Ime, I really really hate babybjorns but men do seem to find them comfy. Not such a comfy ride for a baby imo. Can you get him a plain stretchy wrap? I had a black Kari Me that was pretty manly. And tell him there's nothing more attractive than a man slinging his baby, if in doubt, I give youthe babywearing hunk You're welcome

The baby is due in Dec so it'll be colder then. I just bought a Moby sling but I think my DH is not really into the wrapped look, strange.

brilliant video

My DP loved wearing DS in the Moby (though he never would have wanted to before baby arrived). I had to tie it for him though.

oopsandbabycoconuts · 09/07/2010 22:54

My Dh was very wary of the wrap when we got it and refused to use it until oneday he had to because I hurt my back. I wrapped him and posted DD in he very quickly changed his mind. He paraded around town like the cat with the cream. I now have to wrestle DD off him.

DuelingFanjo · 09/07/2010 22:55

oooh - I just showed the video to my DH and he's prepared to give it a go

my dh doesn't like the wrap style slings either but has carried DS3 from a few weeks old in a mei tai stlyle sling. it is just plain black. When he has DS all day when i am a colllege he uses the sling all day in the house and out and about.

Wouldn't he be a bit heavy?

thisisyesterday · 09/07/2010 23:00

i love that guy so much

BrittanyBeers · 09/07/2010 23:02

Oh SandyBits, that has made my night!

SandyBits · 09/07/2010 23:03

isn't he just a dreamboat?

DuelingFanjo · 09/07/2010 23:04

thing is, he's nothing like my DH! My DH looks more pregnant than me so maybe he has, erm, unrealistic ideas of what it will be like.

The way he holds such a teeny tiny baby with such confidence..

The fact he took the time to post that video..

The little kiss...

raindroprhyme · 10/07/2010 16:27

my dh is a big guy 19 and a half stone.
I just showed him the vid altho very impressed he did say that guy is half the size of me!!!!
a mei tai with extra long straps may be the way to go.
