Baby doesn't like Ergo : (

I've just got a new Ergo and, aside from some minor adjustments that I need to make to the back straps to make it truly comfortable, it's great and really feels so much more managable weight wise.

However...my chunky 4 months old(18lb 2 oz and 91st centile all round) doesn't seem to like it and cries when he's in it. He did fall asleep in it yesterday but cried before he went to sleep and cried as soon as he woke up. I'm wondering if he is uncomfortable with the leg position as it's quite wide, possibly even fractionally wider than his back of knee pit to back of knee pit measurement (if that makes sense)? Maybe I'm not doing it right?

Any advice? I love this sling and would be quite gutted if the baby doesn't like being in there.

4 months old is fairly young for the ergo ime - are you carrying him in the back or front?

Even if he doesn't take to it just yet, you can carry on using it until he's at least 3 so don't despair!

agree, I've never used the ergo before six months.

In a couple of months I'm sure he'll love it!

Thanks everyone. He seemed a lot happier today - I loosened up the shoulder straps so maybe it was just a little too snug (was carrying him on the front)? I think he probably is on the lower limit of size baby for this carrier - I think he's probably only just big enough even though he's a hefty 18lbs+.

I did manage to persuade my nearly three year old toddler to have a go in piggy back position and he loved it! And it was so easy to carry him like that so I'm really pleased.
