Am I totally paranoid?

Whenever I take DD(4 weeks) out in the sling (Ergo) I "need" to keep stopping to check that she is still breathing - is it just me that does this?

How are you carrying her in the ergo which means you can't check her breathing without taking her out?

Have a look at this sling positioning guide and just check that you have her positioned correctly. You should be able to notice that she is breathing without stopping or taking her out, I agree.

Don't worry about having it too tight - it's very unlikely you will make it too tight, think of swaddling a baby, that's much tighter than you think. It's more dangerous to have it too loose.

Sorry - I don't stop and take her out - I just stop walking and lean forward so that her head tips back off my chest - she always falls asleep in the sling with her head against my chest and I can't feel her breathing against my body IYSWIM. I'm confident she is being carried correctly and safely - it's just that I can see a lot less of her when she is in sling as compared to sleeping in my lap . I know I'm being irrational

Aww, I miss those newborn carrying days

If you can feel her breath on your chest and see her face then you probably are being paranoid but that's just your job as a mother of a newborn I think... enjoy her

Can you not feel her chest rising and falling against yours as you walk? Sometimes if you take a moment, you can feel this too

I'll try that today - I've never noticed it before, but then I've never really concentrated on trying to notice it IYSWIM

Don't worry, I was just the same! If you have her snug against you, it doesn't take much to be able to feel her breathing. From above, it can look like their nose and mouth are too squashed against your chest for them to be able to breathe unrestricted, but this is almost certainly not the case. You can always try gently turning her head to one side if you're really worried about it.
