Ergo backback or changing pad?

Anyone have any experience of either of these? Pros/cons? I have an Ergo carrier that I love, but need to to be able to carry some more stuff with me than fits in the small pocket. (Mainly as I'll be going on a plane soon and my hand luggage will be a bridesmaid's dress!)

Realistically how much can you get in a changing pad, enough for a day trip? I need to be able to carry contact lens solutions and glasses with me as well as purse and all the baby stuff.

I have the Ergo backpack and I could easily fit everything for a day trip inside, but when the backpack is full and attached onto the carrier it is very bulky. It is also quite hard to put the sling on while the backpack is attached so I have to get someone else to attach it. I don't think the Ergo backpack is really worth the money - it has increased in price since I got mine.

I prefer to use a cross body bag across my front when I have the carrier on my back.
