If you could only have one sling?

DS is 8m and about 23lbs, and my Moby is starting to get less comfortable. I want a new sling but I'm overwhelmed by the choice. I don't think I'm likely to become a sling junkie, so I'm looking for just one sling that will do us for a while. It will be just me using it - I'm 5'9", size 20, and will use the sling mainly for school runs, shopping and visiting friends.

So - if you could only have one sling, which would you choose?

Hmmmm.
Well, it would be a toss up between a toddler patapum (is your ds tall like you? My ds is almost 2 and the same weight )
or a Hoppediz, a very supportive woven wrap. I would have said Ergo, but my ds grew out of his before 18 months

At that age, I''d have a Mei Tai with xl straps - easy to wear, adaptable, and will fit for some time

DS is quite tall. Thanks both for suggestions.

If it was me it would be my Storchenweige Inka but some people don't want wraps all the time.

For everyone/anyone, I think the Manduca. if you search the archives with Manduca you can find some of my witterings and other people's testimony on it.

sorry, forgot I namechanged for another thread. it is foxytocin here

Indith · 12/05/2010 16:27

A woven wrap. But please don't make me choose which one! I suppose if I had to my ellaroo as it is pretty supportive but not too thick so ok for summer too. though actually it is my least used wrap. (though if I could steal foxy's Inka......)

I went from moby to jersey pouch (mad myself)
for the last couple of months )ds is 1) I've gone back to my ring sling (freedom)
ds doesnt like being ina wrap now. Its too constrictive

my most-used one atm is my Inka Storch, so right now that one

if you;d asked me when I was still slinging ds2 regularly It would have been my cwtshi

although i do love my toddlerhawk, and i had it made double-sided to entice dp into wearing it too

Another vote for the toddler patapum here. It's the only SSC with the extra straps to bring their centre of gravity close to yours, which makes it as comfortable as a Mei Tai.

thanks everyone!

loopy - yes, grrrr!
Sadly, I've checked out the sling meet site and there's nothing near me - even though Peterborough is the centre of the known universe
