Moby holds for a less-tiny baby??

My DD really liked our Moby sling and slept in it loads around the house / out and about.

But now she's 2 months she's much more alert and doesn't always want to sleep when I need to carry her around IYSWIM. The standard "hug" hold means she's pressed in too close to be able to look about and she squirms about if she's not tired - but the instructions say the face-forward is only suitable when she can hold her head properly, which she obviously can't do yet ...

Is there another way to carry her - or is time to graduate to a more "structured" sling?

Thanks very much! hope that all made sense ...

I had DD in a face forward hold at just gone 2 months and it worked fine. As long as their head isn't flopping around and you're watching, it should work.

thanks - her head isn't mega-floppy any more - will try tomorrow ...

I was amazed at how well DD did facing out.

Have you also thought to try a side carry? It would be easier to support her back properly and easier for her to alternate between looking out or snuggling back to sleep without your having to constantly change her positon between facing in and facing out.

I'm not really au fait with doing these with wraps but Sling Guide is a good resource with lots of links to instructional videos.

Though you do need to be careful that you don't attempt to use a stretchy wrap for a carry that is only suitable for a woven wrap (such as a back carry).

The online instructions for this rival brand of stretchy wrap are pretty good, too - I believe the Side 2 postion can be made more suitable for a littlie by pulling the panel up a bit higher (as they suggest for a sleeping baby).

Hopefully someone who knows more than me will come along and confirm or correct all of this

As a first time Mum I was just about to ask the very same question! DS, 9 weeks, is finding being wrapped right into the Moby too restricting now and he kicks to escape. He loved it before, this is a new thing this week...

So this morning I tried him facing out to hang up the washing and he absolutely loved it. I guessed he'd tell me if he was unhappy with it but wanted to check if its ok for his neck/back as I'd read the 4 months thing too?

Will have a good look at the links, thanks
