Argh! Completely overwhelmed - too much choice!

Hello there! The title says it all, really - I'd love to buy a new sling for my 6 month old, but feel completely bamboozled by all the choice out there. How on earth do I know which to go for?
So far, I've been using a babybjorn, the one with extra lumbar support, but it's starting to hurt.
I need something that I can wear comfortably for prolonged periods of time. My life is an endless school run!
I have to say that I turn into a real blonde when faced with long straps, and an impatient one at that! I am also quite overweight
Therefore your recommendations for a very simple to use, comfortable sling for a 6 month old would be much appreciated. I am a real sling novice, so please do assume no prior knowledge!

Mei tais are really not difficult to use but if you have your heart set on buckles I was very happy with the Sleepy Nico I used when my DS was that age. You can see them here -www.sleepynico.com

Other makes you might like to look at are Calyx, Ergo, Patapum, Connecta, Rose and Rebellion, off the top of my head.

Thanks so much for your help. Fab information! I love the look of the Sleepy Nico and Connecta, as they are gorgeous and I don't want to compromise on style! A soft structured carrier is the way to go for me, rather than a wraparound one. Having said that, not sure how my little one would feel about not facing outwards...
Any idea where I could buy one secondhand? A quick ebay search has brought up nothing.

As regards facing outwards, it's a controversial position because it isn't possible to support the baby's weight across his/her buttocks and thighs and instead all the weight goes on his/her crotch. It's also more uncomfortable for the wearer because the baby's centre of gravity is lower and further away.

TBH, I've had two nosey babies and so long as you carry them high either on the front or the back so they can still see what's happening around them they've been happy.
