Dithering between a SSC and a framed back carrier

DS is getting very heavy for my Close carrier now and although I like my wilkinet for round the house, I find it a bit impractical when out and about as the long straps tend to whip round / drag on the floor (I think this problem will also rule out MTs for me).

So I have decided that the next step is a back carrier of some sort... something that both me and DH can use (he has never really got the hang of anything other than the very simple ring sling) and that I can use for back carries in public without putting baby in chair & backing up to him.

It also has to be something we can use over the summer when we will be doing a lot of camping and walking. For this reason I'm leaning towards something with a solid frame & kickstand.

But would a SSC be more useful for day-to-day and also do for the summer? I think I would miss the snuggliness with a framed carrier.

Any advice?

I have one of these that my strapping boy has been in since 5 months old and it is brilliant ergobabycarrier Just like a back pack but oh so comfy!

Just realised that picture is the back pack but the thing to purchase is a sucking pad! LOL - anyway you can see the picture of the back pack. Oops

I'm in Norwich, there is a Nappucino (real nappy meet) that is also meant to be a sling meet but not much sign of slinging last time I went...

I have now bought one of these Littlelife Convertible secondhand... It looks more the sort of thing DH would be happy using (lots of big manly straps!) but also has some storage. A lot of the other framed carriers don't seem to have any, which would be pretty irritating. I'm hoping it will at least do for when I want to get the bus places! No kickstand though.

I don't think this is going to be a long-term solution, I'm going to keep my eyes out for a cheap ergo, or possible a beco.

Sucking pads are a good idea. I wonder if they make one that would fit the cat's tail?

Yes, I seem to keep missing cheapo options on both! Oh well I am sure my dream SSC will find me one day soon... hopefully when I have sold a bit more baby stuff on ebay to raise the funds for it!
