Which sling for the school run??

DS is 7 and a half months old and I wondered what your thoughts on the best sling would be?

My school run is as follows: walk to bus stop and wait for very crowded bus - almost impossible to take a buggy - then 15 mins on bus, usually standing. Walk to DD1's school, drop her and then back to the bus stop, bus to DD2's nursery, wait around at DD2's nursery for 15 mins (as she starts half an hour after DD1 but it only takes me 15 mins to get there from DD1's school), walk home (15 mins). I'm usually out of the house for about 1hr 15 mins in total. Picking DD2 up is about another 45 mins round trip and again I need to use a sling as there are always loads of buggies trying to get on the buses after school and as they only let 2 on at once I sometimes have to wait for 2 or 3 buses to go by before I can get on if I have the buggy.

So, my current sling is a Hotsling which I use in the hip carry position. I love it. I used it all the time with DD2 when she was little, but after over 2hrs of trudging around on the school run every day I'm feeling knackered. My shoulder and back ache quite badly......

Is there something that might be better, but is still simple and straightforward like the Hotsling??

Many thanks

ergo

Kari-me or sleepy wrap or moby - all stretchy wrap type slings.

I like the ergo. You could have ds on your front on the bus as they are less likely to get bumped and you can sit down if there is a seat, then slide him round to the back as it is easier to carry that way.

Something with buckles like an Ergo would be best because you can put them on very quickly. My preference wouldn't be for an Ergo though because they're very expensive and rather dull looking. I had a Sleepy Nico and it was brilliant when I needed to be out in a hurry.
