Hi!
I just, would so like to be able to carry him on my hip, but I don't fancy one of those hippyseats.
Would it be better for him to be on my back?
I don't know where to start and what's best but definitely want something!!!
Is weight a big factor? I thought about a ring-sling - would this be a go-er? A maya sling??

TIA

p.s. Am not really sure what he weighs - 24lbs in September tho.

I have a Mei Tai.It is fabulous and so easy to use.

Funkyslings. Will find and link for you.

You can do a hip/back and front carry. My 2 and a half year old and 10 month old love it.

I would go for a symmetrical sling, on your back, as she might be quite heavy to carry on your hip. I have an ergo which is great.

MistergodthisisSal · 19/11/2009 21:55

I second the ergo.

I still carry my 35lb DS around in a ring sling and I find it really comfortable.

I like my ergo. DH and I carry DS (13 months) in it every day. Can be sued to carry front, back or hip.

You should find this site helpful.

For long periods I would go for a mei tai or soft structured carrier so you can spread the weight across both shoulders.

For quick ups and downs you might well prefer a ringsling but the weight is on one shoulder so it does get tiring after a while.

Thanks so much! Am going to check these out!

Is it worth checking out ebay for these do you think?

Thanks again!

I use a ringsling (a huggababy) for my large 13mo. It never makes my shoulder tired. If I go for long periods with it, the hip she's sitting on does get a bit tired though. It's a nice way to carry her, feels much more natural to me than the ergo I tried out - we can chat and kiss, and she can point things out to me.

barbareebaa · 19/11/2009 22:37

Yes - I definitely want to be able to carry ds on my hip - he always wants to be part of the action and I think even on my back he would complain!! He didn't like being stuck facing my chest when he was little either. I do like the idea of chatting and pointing stuff out!
