Choosing a sling for baby

Hi fellow mumsnetters ! I’m expecting my first DC in a couple of months and I wanted some advice on baby carriers/slings (quite keen on baby wearing when possible). I know I don’t want something I need to wrap myself (I’m very clumsy and scared I will do it wrong and hurt baby). It should be a sling DH and me can share and something that we can use from the newborn period ideally. I’m very likely to have a C-section if that matters. I tried a sling with a nephew but found that my lower back hurt after 30 mins or so (could just be poor core strength though).

-Any recommendations ?
-Also, when is the best time to go to a sling library-the folks at John Lewis told me that slings should be tried only after baby arrives ?
-Any recommendations for a good sling library in South or Central London and what is the usual charge for a visit/appointment ?

You probably are better off waiting for your baby to get anything pricy. One of mine hated the regular sling and only liked the one shoulder ring sling where he could be lying down. It only cost me a tenner from marketplace, so might be an option for you to begin with. Same child also flat out refused to be on my back with the 360 sling once he was old enough. Annoying as it is better for weight distribution when they get heavier!
