I have a six-month-old DD and have been using a "je porte mon bébé" wrap (I live abroad so apologies if this one isn't well-known in the UK!) since she was born. I don't drive and use public transport a lot so prefer carrying her pretty much always except when eating out or carrying lots of shopping. Plus DD gets fed up quickly in the buggy and it's much easier to get her to sleep in the sling. I'm wondering whether I should look into changing to a different sling or carrier now she's a bit bigger. I'm looking for:
- Something a bit cooler now summer is coming as the jpmbb neans few extra layers of thick material and we both get a bit hot - I've occasionally resorted to wearing very little underneath and sticking on a top when I arrive somewhere and take DD out!
- Something that I can use with a bigger baby/toddler that will support my back and let me carry her for long stretches. She's only just 6kg now but I'm starting to feel the strain!
- Something I can easily put on my back without a helper - there are tutorials for putting baby on your back in a jpmbb but they often involve someone else and I am a single mother!
- Something that is ergonomically designed to support the baby. I hate seeing those ones where their legs are just dangling, looks so uncomfortable.
I hope I haven't just described the impossible holy grail of slings and that it actually exists! I don't think we have sling libraries where I live but will keep investigating.
