babywearing coat?

Currently pregnant with DC3, when born, I am likely to do a mixture of carrying DC2 (aged 2) or DC3 or no-one (hooray!) and it will be January so will need a decent winter coat especially as we spend a lot of time out. DC2 will be on my back in an ergo, DC3 on my front. How is best to manage this? I won't be carrying both together. Would DC2 go outside my coat in her own coat or inside my coat? I am a bit clueless! I stopped carrying DC2 last winter as all the puffiness of the coats got a bit much.

A babywearing coat is a good option, My friend used a Mam Askia Poncho to good effect, it has a big opening with poppers, so you can have heads popping up at the front and back.

I couldn't stretch my budget that far so I modified a fleece coat from the charity shop, I bought a fleece jumper and a childs fleece jumper too. I cut the kids fleece jumper off below the armpits and made a slit in the back of the fleece coat and sewed it in. I added a panel below so it would fit my 3yo. I made a zip in panel for the front of the coat for little squidge. It wasn't waterproof but a huge golf umbrella helped with that, we were warm and snug, it was not the prettiest coat but very practical.
