Manduca issues

Hello, this is my first post on MN so please forgive me if I'm not doing this right!

I hired a Manduca carrier from my local sling library as, when we tried it out, it seemed comfortable for both me and DS. He's 4.5 months old and I've tried using it a couple of times since and he's cried both times, getting himself very worked up.

Does anyone have any advice on what I might be doing wrong or how I can get DS to calm down when he's in it? I thought he might like cuddling in to me but it's not seeming that way!

Hi @coupester

How big is he and is he in the insert part with the poppers? I had one big guy who was in it without the insert at that age and one wee girl who had little legs and needed it for longer to be positioned right !

First things to try is make sure he's fed and happy before you try him in it. :)

Then try just walking around as soon as he's in to see if he settles.

I love my Manduca, but i did prefer stretchy and woven straps when they were teeny. Smile A stretchy might be worth a try if he's still little?

Hello, thank you for the advice! I've tried it a few times since and he's been ok. I originally didn't use the insert as I thought he was big enough but after the crying I thought I'd try it and I think it helped.

I also think he was quite tired the first couple of times which made him grumpy.

I've now got a connecta to try but I already think I preferred the Manduca.

That's good. 👍 It's a really comfy carrier when you get it sorted. I mostly use it to back carry my toddler now and it's so nice and quick.

Enjoy your cuddles! :)
