Boba 4G or connecta?

I'm really torn. I've been unable to try a connecta as there are no sling meets near me and I really need a new carrier asap.

I've tried my friends boba and really like it but it is quite bulky and the simplicity of the connecta appeals to me and how lightweight it is for going on holiday etc.
I have read that the connecta isn't as comfy for back. Carries so I'm a bit unsure.
My 6 month old weighs 14.5lbs and is very petite so trying to figure out what the right option for us is, which without trying the connecta is a bit tricky. I just have no idea how I would try a connecta. I don't like the idea of hiring one.

I loved my connecta! If you want lightweight then go for a solarweave (also v handy on holiday). They pack up v small. Although I also had a normal Integra for a pretty pattern. I front carried DD until 15 months so can't comment on how comfy a back carry is.

They sell on for nearly new prices (I've just sold my Integra for under £5 less than I paid for it 2 years ago) so I'd go for it if I was you and try it out. There are various very active selling pages on Facebook if it turns out not to be for you (or you want to buy secondhand). everyone who I know who has tried one has loved it!

Thank you. They're coming so highly recommended that I feel I really need to go for the connecta given the price difference too.

I have a boba 4g and I like it, so I recently bought the boba air, it's broadly similar but slightly less comfortable for long carries.

RuckingMarvellous · 20/08/2015 20:18

They're both very different. Have you seen/ tried both?

Connecta don't have a padded waste band and I found it doggy but my friends rave about them.

I had a boba 4 G which I loved. Moved to a Tula when my daughter was 13 months and much prefer that.

Have you thought about finding out about your local sling library to try all the different brands and possibly even hire one?

RuckingMarvellous · 20/08/2015 20:19

Diggy not doggy!! Crikey

RuckingMarvellous · 20/08/2015 20:20

Also sling library's often have discount codes to the various sling libraries. I know my local library has discounts for Connecta/ boba/ Tula/ Manduca etc

Roseybee10 · 20/08/2015 20:20

Sitting here mulling it over with hubby. I think they're so different that I'm trying to work out what I'm going to use it more for. I think the connecta would be better for wearing on short carries or around the house but the boba would be better when she's bigger and for longer carries.

This is almost as hard as choosing a house lmao!

I've found its impossible to just own one sling...

Roseybee10 · 20/08/2015 20:27

The local sling meets are really far away and only meet once a month and I missed last month due to a previous commitment and I'm at a wedding for this month's one.
I don't feel I can wait until the end of September to buy one.
I've looked at the Tula as well and know a lot of people have recommended that too.

The non padded waist band with the connecta worries me as I'm not sure if I'd find it comfy. I feel like the structured waste band of the boba really does take most of the weight of the baby whereas I'm worried the connecta would be more on the shoulders.
I don't know anyone who has a Tula to try it out :-(

I borrowed a beco and I really liked it but I found the shoulder straps just fell off my shoulders.
Tried the boba today and did really like it but it was a 3G rather than a 4G so I'm not sure if it's very different.
I've been unable to try a connecta as I don't know anyone who has one.

www.itsaslingthing.co.uk/ do postal hire so you could try a connecta. 3G and 4G are very similar for bigger children, the main difference is the infant insert in the 4G (which is brilliant).

Roseybee10 · 20/08/2015 20:37

I'm not sure she'd need the infant insert now? She's nearly 15lbs so probably not.
Now looking at the Tula Confused torturing myself lol.

I've tried both. I took the Boba back to the sling library after a week because I didn't get on with it. I'm quite short and I didn't like the waistband; it felt much too bulky for me.

I hired a Connecta for a month and then bought one. I love it. It folds up much smaller than the Boba, DD seems much more comfortable in the Connecta, and it's way more comfortable for me too.

Roseybee10 · 20/08/2015 20:45

I'm going to need to hire one I think argh.
The Tula seems to be getting raves over the other two.
Can't work out how the 'it's a sling thing' works lol.

People do LOVE their tulas!

DoloresLandingham · 28/08/2015 07:28

I see someone else has recommended 'it's a sling thing' upthread. I would highly recommend the postal hire.
