Struggling with Ergo

I've just bought an Ergo original carrier after hearing from so many people how comfy they are, but I'm struggling. Trying to do up the clip between my shoulder blades almost cripples me and squishes my baby, and I find the shoulder straps really bulky. Any advice?!

How tight do you have that between-the-shoulder clip? And how high? Are you reaching over or under your shoulders to clip it? Can you move it higher, and leave the shoulder straps loose until it's done up? Then tighten them just until it's all comfy.

I always kept everything loose until I had done the clip and then adjusted the straps to secure the baby.

It's a lot harder if the straps are too tight.

It sounds as though it's a brand new ergo so the straps are still stiff and very padded (not broken in).

When I used mine I would do up the waist band and make it tight and in place where it needed to be. Then lift baby and hold in place with one arm whilst putting the opposite strap over my shoulder. Then swap arms and do the other shoulder. Don't tighten the shoulder straps now - when they're loose the back connecting strap is high up by your neck so you can do it up (when DS was very little I would do this on the sofa for fear of him falling out!). Now tighten the shoulder straps and you'll feel the back strap move down your back and keep the shoulder straps close ish together.

Try the back connected strap on it's loosest setting and tighten it as you break the ergo in.

Hope this helps. I loved mine once I got the knack.
