In need of advice. I need a sling for my 4 month old, mainly for using at home. Have tried chicco baby carrier which he absolutely hates. I'm not too keen either. I'm not keen on ring slings as a bit of material hanging down would bug me. I'm keen on the whole idea of babywearing, but cant find a place that teaches it near me. Wondered if anyone had tried a hanna shorty wrap. I think a stretchy style wrap would prob suit me best. Tried a seven day sling, but he seemed to outgrow it very quickly, so in short I want a stretchy wrap, that would fit quite a chunky baba, on my chest(over one shoulder slings are no good) and maybe I could use to breast feed in too. Any advice would help please

I wouldn't advise getting a stretchy if your baby is already 4m and quite chunky; most people find that they aren't supportive enough by about 6 mo so you wouldn't get much use out of it. One alternative would be a woven wrap, which works on a similar principle but with non-stretchy fabric which offers more support. They can be tricky, however, especially if you don't have a sling library nearby to troubleshoot.

I would suggest a buckled carrier like a connecta or an ergo. It will probably last at least until your baby is about 1. I have never cracked feeding in a wrap but lots of people do manage it. Ring slings can be good for feeding and you can wrap the tail around the rings to get it out of the way if you wish.

have had a look at more stretchys n I'm inclined to agree with you. I found one company that says their stretchys can fit an 18 month old, but I'm a little doubtful of this. Still not sold on ring slings. I cant carry on one shoulder. I have found a place in leicester that does sling hire n advice. so I might head over there, but I just cant justify the amount of money woven wraps are. they are just a strip of material. Also being raised by hippies I absolutely loathe the new age patterns on them. too many memories of tye died tshirts n ethnic knits...I prefer the look of the connecta, might try one of them cheers

I'd look at a Meitai as they are supportive, but simple and easy to use. I found the ergo really faffy to do up

The Tricotti may be a good option as well.
