My DH is concerned about getting the moby (which I love) wrong. I'm like to get him something more structured and backpacky.

Any recommendations? He is relatively broad through the shoulders.

Any soft structured carrier could work. Ergo, manduca, tula, beco soleil, boba 3/4g etc

Thanks! Anyone had particular good experience with any of these? Looks if good reviews online for Ergo but kind if pricey so be good to know it is worth it, or if there are any cheaper alternatives.

Ergo is only good for bigger, or older babies. My DD couldn't use it between about 4 and 7 months as she was too big for the insert and too small without. She still needs a cushion to sit on or she just disappears into it.

My dh preferred a meitai or half buckle meitai - hated the Ergo as a bigger man he found it really hard to get it on. Suprisingly he really disliked the LittleLife rucksac style that I bought him.

We liked the Manduca (though DH is not big). It has a little insert for small babies, can cross straps at the back (so no fiddly back clasp when doing a front carry) and we generally found it more adjustable than an Ergo.

I have a tula, but my daughter is 1. It's really comfy. We used a connecta from 6 months til recently, which I loved but not for back carries.
Before 6 months I only used moby, or I borrowed a hop tye which was good. I hear manduca are good for the adjustability, but I think there are more comfortable ones personally.
Be aware that lots of standard SSCs will become too small around 18 months (or possibly earlier in the case of the ergo).
I'm not sure how old your baby is so this may all be irrelevant information!

And if you do want to buy ergo, make sure it's from reputable seller as there's are tons of fakes. Most SSCs have good resale value, so don't be too worried about money because you will make a fair bit back if you sell.

Oh yes, be very, very careful of fake Ergos.

One thing I like about the Manduca is that you can extend the body length. I don't know if others do that? There is a zip out section that makes it longer. I managed to carry my big 3 year old on my back at the Olympics. I wouldn't want to do it every day or for long, but giving a tried three year old a carry for the long walk out of the park and through the tube was a god-send!

We have the manduca, moby and ergo. Personally I preferred the moby in the early days and after a few months the manduca vs the ergo as it's more adjustable and also cheaper as the newborn insert is inbuilt rather than separate - I think that DH prefers the Ergo Performance as it is less fiddly, less bulky and hot to wear (not relevant now but good in summer), and looks blokey DS is also small, but the insert worked fine as once they outgrow the whole thing you can just use the little cushion at the bottom

Thank you everyone . I should have said AdD is 7 weeks, though quite big and long! I love the moby right now but will look into manduca and ergo for DH and longer term.
