Am currently pregnant due any day and just visited a friend with a 2wo. She had on a sling with rings at the back (2) in a stretch material but she was wearing it as a cross across her body at the front with the baby on her front in the middle and then the rings behind her shoulder blades with the ends hanging down behind her shoulder.

It looked EXACTLY like what i've been looking for - I have tried a proper wrap out at ante-natal yoga and I felt so claustraphobic, like I was wrapped up like a mummy (the egyptian kind, not the kind i'm about to become :) )

Hers was really easy for putting him into and taking him out of and it was made by a brand called 'close' - she got it 2nd hand and said there are loads on ebay but I can't find it online and all the pictures of ring slings online show them with just one set of rings at a single shoulder (and an older than newborn baby in it).

Can anybody help???

Sounds like a Close carrier I think. Can't find any pics that show the rings atm but I think it has 2 rings near your hips which you put the ends of the crossed-over fabric into.

If you type 'close sling' into ebay there are a couple of black ones on the front page.

Yep does sound like a Close Caboo, although the rings should be at waist/hip height.

Yes, i think that is it, the thing that confused me is she didn't have the horizontal bit up over the baby's bum but that's cause she was just walking/swaying him to sleep in the house so the sling wasn't taking all his weight just helping hold him in close to her.

Thank you!

It's a Close Caboo. It was upside down though, the rings should be at the bottom (though I think you can do it that way for an older child). This picture might look different to what you saw too. It has a bag which comes with it and which also becomes a sort of extra outside 'wrap' to the sling. That is the big wide strip in the middle of these picutres. If she wasn't wearing that it will look more like a cross.

Cross post. The horizontal bit is a separate part. I often didn't bother with it after the DD's were tiny and just tied the trailing ends round my waist at the front.

I didn't always bother with the horizontal bit either, especially if it was hot. It's just extra support/security for it so if you are just at home might not always be necessary.

BINGO!!!

Thank you so much, I would never have worked that out myself. As I say, she just popped him in it at home for a bit after a feed as he's a bit refluxy and needs to be upright.
