Can I wear two hip carriers?

I'm just curious, and wanting to try with my 6 month old twins (hoping to use until they're around 2-3).

Reason I'm trying is because I MAY need the buggy for 2 new arrivals. And if I can't or doesn't work then I can shop around more. I don't like back carrying, I don't feel comfortable as I don't have easy access to him if he's crying, and have a child strapped to my front. I don't live close to any sling libraries, closest is just over an hour away in the car.

You can wear two ring slings or pouches (google 'ring sling twins' and you'll see some pictures.
But you would, as you suggest, need to do this with the two bigger ones - I wouldn't be comfortable with two newborns worn like this. And to be honest I really can't see it being comfortable for pushing a pushchair at the same time, as they get in the way of your arms a bit.

This twin carrier www.facebook.com/TwinGoCarrier?fref=ts is the only such thing I have seen that looks good and like it holds both in a good ergonomic position. But it still involves back carrying too. And isn't available to buy just yet.

I won't be using the hip position until after new arrival, and I may only need one carrier, just trying view all my option, if it isn't safe then I won't use it, reason I asked was because I wanted to try with the pushchair as you said it may be difficult.

I may try the back position but I'm worried about what age is best to use them, 6 months, still seems a little early for me but that's what people say. Hmm, I'll keep looking and browsing! :)

I used two ring slings for a while for my twins, but my back just couldn't cope with the weight and I had to stop, by 6 months or so I think. I also now get horrible pins and needles if my bra straps are a little too tight, which I put down to the double slinging. I was told by a friend who runs a sling meet that I was positioning them correctly, but of course I might not have been. I did sling my very big first child for a lot longer, and did a lot of one sling, one buggy with the twins, I am very pro slings, but couldn't manage the double. (although two newborns in a stretchy was cute...)

How many new arrivals and how old will your twins be? Perhaps there's an alternative?

Maybe two new arrivals, so the twins will be about 15 months when born. I have a double stroller, so I'm thinking maybe one newborn in buggy, and older twin in a back carry, but I've always been very nervous about it.

I'm up for any suggestions, plus I've got ages to think about it :)

Actually I think I just found the perfect solution - ABC Quad buggy. Even if I only have one arrival, my toddler can use the other seat. Hmm.

Well if the quad proves too unwieldy, I would be tempted to double sling the new arrivals, much lighter, they sleep easy next to you etc, while keeping older twins in buggy plus buggy board for single. At least for first few months.
