Sling in the style of Dr Sears baby book

Hello,

I wondered if you kind people could help me out. I have a close wrap style carrier, but have been reading Sears' baby book and attachment parenting books and I fancy getting a sling like the ones they write about in there. Could anyone recommend a specific brand that is like the ones in the pictures in their books? They call it a sling type carrier and it looks much more versatile than mine!

It's a ring sling isn't it? Like an Ellaroo or something? I can't really help as I didn't like them, but I think that's what you need to be googling.

Thanks Galaxy. Yes, I've had a google and the baba sling looks closet to it I think, except the one in the books has rings.

Anyone else have any ideas for something similar?

Lots of lovely ring slings out there. My faves are Maya Wrap ring slings and storchenwiege ring slings - both of these are unpadded which makes them really easy to adjust - if you are used to the close already you will have the hang of adjusting the fabric in the rings.

I haven't used a baba sling but people I know who have say that they can be tricky to get a good supportive carry with a smaller baby because of the padding / buckles.

I have a storchenwiege ringsling. Neobulle are a good price too (try b2boutique.co.uk or lovetobenatural.co.uk)

You could also get a smaller wrap and try it rebezo (sp?) style.

Thanks banana and lagoon. I've had a look and those are the type of thing. Perfect! Now, I've been having a read and although I think the storchenwiege is perfect, I've heard the material itself can be quite hard and tough at first, so you need to wear it in. Would this make it a bad choice? Is there a better option I'm missing that would be softer?

Or is it a non issue?!

You could get a second hand one that's already broken in- try the Facebook Slings FSOT group. Or they soften up nicely with use, washing, ironing and braiding.

The Leo fabrics tend to be softer than the stripes straight out of the packet. They do soften up pretty quickly - you can slide the fabric repeatedly through the two rings as well as washing etc.

I would go for either a Neobulle, or a Lenny Lamb with bamboo. Both will be softer and break in more easily than a Storchenwiege. Ring slings that are too stiff are awkward to adjust.
